Camping, Glamping and Senior Fun

My family and I have done our share of outdoor camping, first in a tent and later in our little green Coleman fold-down camper.  All three of our children still love to camp. The mode today for many senior citizens is for an extreme type of camping called “Glamping.” Those who love to camp have a plethora of exotic choices. If the eco-friendly idea of falling asleep under the stars and roasting marshmallows around a campfire appeals to you, but the reality of pitching a tent and sleeping on bumpy ground does not, glamping, the new term being used for upscale — or glamorous — camping, could be your ideal green vacation. Urban dictionary has several definitions of this new and exciting senior adventure.

A new trend

A new trend of glamping has emerged with luxury camping resorts, safari camps, eco-resorts and campgrounds offering every amenity imaginable, from 5 star dining to spas.  Manufacturers are catching on, offering designer gadgets and gear to bring style to the wilderness.  Regardless of budget, you can enjoy the great outdoors without sacrificing luxury.

The great outdoors is now available with luxury

Open the door to a new world of luxury outdoor accommodations.  You can find and connect with unique and utterly breathtaking spaces with lavish services and amenities in some of the most beautiful landscapes this planet has to offer. A simple hillside vineyard becomes a magical weekend retreat. A tree-lined country field becomes a romantic honeymoon getaway. From the U.S., to Africa, to Europe, to Asia, and beyond…let Glamping Hub take you on a journey. You will soon see camping in a new light and will appreciate the sensory experiences that a little bit of luxury in the open air can provide.

The NY Times Travel section finds that though dismissed by hard-core leave-no-trace campers (who don’t so much as move a rock for fear of affecting the area), glamping can still be an environmentally sound outdoor experience, even if it does include creature comforts (like not having too many creatures inside your tent). And though it is a relatively new trend in the United States and Europe, with its origins harking back to Africa and even Thailand, glamping sites are starting to pop up everywhere, with prepitched tents, tepees and yurts rising out of the landscape like sailboats on an ocean.

Moonlight camping in a luxurious tent sounds neat to me, how about you?

Well, one thing is sure, glamping is a form of camping involving accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping.  Glamping is likely to satisfy any senior city slicker seeking a little refuge in nature—without foregoing any of life’s luxuries. So seniors, enjoy the great outdoors in luxury and dream away your stress or depression while glamping somewhere in the world. Enjoy the great outdoors.  jeb
