Best Ever Body Cleanse for Seniors

My  husband and I are completing a 10 day body cleanse that has done marvelous things for both of us.  And our daughter joined us to our great delight.  The more the merrier as far as we were concerned and actually the support and encouragement we gave each other benefited each of us.

About 2 months ago, we took our blood pressure and discovered that both of us were high…150 or more.  We tried some diet changes that seemed to make no difference,  exercise didn’t touch it.  Then one of my sisters told me about a body cleanse that she was doing.  We followed her closely to see how she did on it.   She seemed to thrive on it.  She didn’t get hungry; she lost a little weight, but not much and  she felt unusually well.  We looked this cleanse up on the internet.  We saw no reason not to give it a try ourselves after reading all the benefits it seemed to have.   And we were looking for a solution to our high blood pressure without taking medicine for it.

I bought a little electric juicer.  We found two friends who had lemon trees in their yard, filled with lemons that no one would use.  We bought grade B pure Maple Syrup and a little jar of cayenne pepper plus some sea salt  that contained no iodine.  The next morning we said ‘no’ to our regular meals for 10 days and started this adventure.  By the end of that first day,  each of us had consumed glasses of our lemonade drink about 10 different times.   We were not hungry, we were not cranky,  we were not crying for something to eat.  We felt full, satisfied and ready to start what was to become my evening ritual for the next 10 days.

Each evening we were to drink 4 cups of salt water,  wait for it to make its way through our bodies and be expelled.  It worked for me but my husband and daughter decided that drinking this much salt water would become a deal breaker for them.  So they took herbal laxatives to use rather than the salt water flush.  This was important means of moving toxins out of our bodies on a daily basis.

We did not get hungry during these 10 days, neither did we feel any emotional downs or low on energy.  It was actually a rather exhilarating experience for us.  On the last day of our cleanse, my sister prepared her famous chili for her and her husband.  The wonderful aroma nearly drove me out of the house, and my mouth still waters when I think about it.  My husband and I needed to break this cleanse with a healthy fresh vegetable soup,  not chili!  However, it is worth sharing.  It is delicious, easy and quick.  It can be served immediately rather than simmer for an hour or more.

1-1/2 lbs ground turkey
1 can of your favorite beans
1  8 oz can tomato sauce
1  8 oz can water
garlic (any amount you prefer)
onion,  chopped,  either sauteed and put in the chili, or chopped and added on top, which is my sister’s choice
1 heaping T chili powder
1 tsp cummin

If you like your onions in the chili,  sautee them first and I would add fresh garlic at this time.  My sister uses the prechopped garlic.  Then add the turkey and brown.  Add the beans,  my sister’s favorite are the black beans.   Add the tomato sauce and water,  seasonings and stir well.
Serve with chopped onions, shredded cheese, sour cream, or your favorite chili topping.

My husband and I will not be eating this delicious chili for a few more days.  Coming off the cleanse is extremely important and that’s where we’re at right now.  The move back to a more normal diet takes 3 days of drinking fresh squeezed orange juice the first day with salad and/or soup the second and third day.   Chili, you will have to wait a few more days!
