Senior Summer Fun in the Sun

With summer here, senior citizens are geared up for warm weather, outdoor activities and of course summer vacation. Many people find that there is no better time to enjoy a relaxing vacation or an exciting adventure than during your golden years. Read on for five of the best vacation spots for senior citizens.

Cape May, New Jersey is a beautiful sea side town that features gorgeous Victorian houses, miles of well maintained beaches and an abundance of activities to keep you busy. Cape May has no shortage of lodging: you’ll be hard pressed to find a block that doesn’t have at least one Victorian bed and breakfast on it. There are also plenty of hotels and motels along the boardwalk, or if you plan on a longer vacation, you could rent a summer house. Some beautiful places to stay include the Chalfont Hotel, Hotel Macomber, and the Gingerbread House. Cape May, New Jersey is most enjoyable during the spring and summer months when you can bask in the sunshine along the coast. While you are there be sure to pick up some salt water taffy or fudge on the boardwalk.

Senior Travel from Maine to California

Another great vacation option for senior citizens is the beautiful state of  Maine. Maine offers much to travelers of all ages, including beautiful wilderness, miles of coast and plenty to do. Whether you want to take in Maine’s natural beauty, enjoy visits to fantastic museums such as the Farnsworth Art Museum and the University of Maine Museum of Art, or learn about Maine’s history, there is plenty to keep you occupied and entertained. There are many lodging options in Maine. Highly suggested lodging include the Belfast Bay Inn, the Blair Hill Inn, and the White Barn Inn and Spa. While in Main, be sure to treat yourself to some fresh Maine lobster.

San Francisco, California is another great summer vacation spot for senior travelers. Great attractions include the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and the Victorian home tour. While visiting, be sure to enjoy a trolley ride through the steep streets of San Francisco.

Take advantage of the Florida Keys rich history and culture by enjoying museums such as the Hemingway Home and Museum and the Key West Art and History Museum, or delighting in delicious local cuisine. While in Key West be sure to soak up some rays on their beautiful beaches.

Ocean City, Maryland is a great vacation choice for seniors. Ocean City features miles of pristine beaches, entertainment and activities to keep you busy and amazing scenery. Take advantage of Ocean City’s vibrant nightlife and restaurant scene by enjoying live music and fresh seafood at Fager’s Island. Ocean City is home to many great hotels and inns such as the Merry Sherwood Plantation and the Coconut Malorie Hotel.
