Seniors: Let’s Visit Florida

Oct 26th, 2010 | By James E Becker | Category: Senior Travel

Florida is a favorite retirement location for many senior citizens of the US and this article will show you why.

Many older folks move to Florida to enjoy the warm climate and to take advantage of all of the year-round recreational opportunities. Some of them maintain summer homes in the northern states near their children and grandchildren, but annually migrate to Florida for the winter months. The Florida natives call them “the Snow Birds”.

I have friends who would say that Sanibel Island is the beautiful spot on the west coast. Shelling is what interests them and Sanibel Island is especially known for shelling because of all the colorful and varied shells that wash up on shore there. Sanibel Island is unique because it runs east to west,

which is different from most islands which run north to south; this positioning allows it to catch the many different kinds of sea shells that the Gulf of Mexico moves to its beaches.

The most popular attraction in Florida is the huge variety of family entertainment activities centered around Disney World near Orlando. This is the number one vacation destination in the USA for families. The beautiful sandy beaches and the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico are the second most popular attraction.

White sand beaches and a very pleasant semi-tropical climate are the greatest attractions of the “Sunshine State”. Over 900 miles of beautiful beaches border the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico to the west and bring in thousands for spring break. More places to visit around Florida are highlighted here and an online interactive map is available. It seemed to me that Miami was overlooked by many websites but do not overlook this city. Miami should not be missed so take a look at this city tour guide information.

“Florida Seniors Guide” is a service of State of Florida.com providing information for Florida seniors and those considering Florida as a retirement location.  SeniorPro.com is a Florida directory of  senior and elder care services, healthcare, and housing just for Florida Seniors. No matter what type of elder care services or information on aging you are searching for in Florida, SeniorPro.com has something for all Florida seniors. As you browse through their pages, you will find information on Florida home health care services including home health agencies and homemaker and companion services, Medicaid planning, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, Alzheimer’s care, geriatric care managers, guardianship services, hospice care, continuing care communities, adult daycare, elder law, financial and bill paying services, Florida retirement communities.

Senior Connection and Mature Lifestyles magazines reach over 240,000 Florida seniors each and every month of the year. They have incorporated Senior Events and Senior Expos into their formula for reaching Florida’s Senior Market. With eight senior events each year the magazines truly touch all of their readers on an ongoing basis.
