Seniors Discover Another Travel Website: Isango!

Dec 21st, 2010 | By James E Becker | Category: Senior Travel

I enjoy searching for travel websites for seniors that have it all together, easy to access and easy to use. This one fits the bill. isango! is an ambitious young company launched in October 2006 and growing rapidly. They offer both “…consumers and travel professionals an authoritative source of exciting and colorful experiences. ”

Holiday tours, sightseeing, attractions, activities and best things to do in more than 60 countries across the world, including Hot Air Ballon flights and swimming with Dolphins.  Wow!  At isango! you may choose from over 5,000 cultural, active, fun or relaxing activities in many different countries and also book with a hotel to save you time as well. It’s all new.

Travolution writes that “destination tours and services specialist isango! has completely overhauled its website as it attempts to take its “experience-led travel offering to the next logical level”.   The company quietly introduced the new main site earlier this month and it is the first major redesign of the web product since isango! launched in late-2006. The new service includes what it calls ‘experiential holidays’ where in-resort products such as tours and attractions are combined with hotels and accommodation.”

An isango motto is “don’t leave your travel memories to chance.” I like that. Planning requires good foresight and good information that tether together. In addition, they promote this site as “Collected by local experts, rated by you” and “the best things to do around the world.” Check out their Top Destinations here. You may begin by searching either Tours or Activities or City Breaks.

With Tours you are asked “Where are you going?” followed by a listing of All Cities/Regions in that area. Then you choose the activities that interest you the most and are invited to input a Keyword. This site does it all. The results are “filtered” and both price range and duration are provided. I chose Mexico Tours, Sightseeing and Things to do. Here I could sort by Recommended or User Rating.

If you choose to Book Now, prices are given including all charges per person complete with photos of the site, a brief overview and Inclusions; the Itinerary is provided and I noted that “last minute charges are free.” How about that folks? Free!

I liked the portion called Similar activities that featured a section called “People who booked this also booked…” with prices and various choices. Here I could pick a site trip to Chichen Itza, Tulum ruins, a submarine boat trip, taking in the Xcaret Eco Theme Park (which I highly recommend) or a Sound and Light Show at Chitzen Itza (which I also highly recommend) if you are in the area. They suggest that travelers check out the Mayaland Hotel on the Chitzen Itza site which is also a great idea as I know the hotel.  Prices are provided for each with a nice little “GO” button to take you to the page with more specific information. There are “little buttons” all over their website page with additional information of every type with small “thumbs up” indicating choice sites with up to five thumbs.

These folks have “done their homework” in designing this website.  For another sample trip I chose France and All Cities and Regions just to check out a few details. There were 75 Suggestions, 21 Must Do and 5 Something Different sites. I liked that. What is cool is that the results are then “filtered.” Paris for instance has 118, Avignon 16 and Marseille 10. The themes ran from 175 for Culture and Sightseeing, 126 for SENIORS, and 68 for Special Interests. You can take a Paris Bike Tour for just $36.37 with an English-Speaking guide. They note that Trip Advisor recommended that this tour was one of the top-rated things to do in Paris, so check it out seniors. That’s a pretty inexpensive way to take in Paris.  Here is what they provided me:

  • Itinerary that takes you all over town.
  • Comments of folks just like you who took the bike tour.
  • Travel Blog provides lots of good ideas such as HOW TO AVOID BEING CHEATED IN PARIS CAFÉS, Alternative Travel in Spain, and Stylish Things to do in Berlin .

Lastly, they have a Best Price Guarantee. At isango!, “we are committed to offering you with the best value at all times and we work very hard to achieve this by keeping an eagle eye on the market prices. We guarantee that we will always provide you with the lowest cost, highest quality experiences and hotels. We are not infallible though, and in cases where you find the same product cheaper on any other website within 24 hours of booking with us, we will refund the difference or cancel your reservation without penalty.” Questions or General Inquiries are available here with phone numbers and email. I have viewed many many travel sites and isango! rates at the top with the best.            jeb
