Senior Travel Planning on Internet Sites

Concierge Travel Guides has one of the neatest sites for travelers anywhere in the world that I have found to date. It first let’s you chose your destination such as Africa, Australia, Europe, Asia, etc. and then divides that large area into individual countries. They break it down again and you can choose specific cities. Each city is then described with details.

I chose England, then London. Here is what came up: “Huge, historic, and very hip. Majestic museums and theaters, cutting-edge art and music scenes, and—yes, it’s true—world-class restaurants. Icons: Tower of London, “Big Ben”, Buckingham Palace, Portobello Road. They offered 44 best pick hotels and then a section on Videos, Photos and Articles. A nice section called See and Do lists individual sites with photos. Up came BUCKINGHAM PALACE, London, then the Queen’s London pied-à-terre is not the most beautiful of palaces, but it’s big. Most of the year, all you can do is peer through the iron railings at…”

The detail on this site is amazing, and I believe helpful in travel planning.  Internet sites offer so many additional options that the planning process for senior travel is enhanced beyond what it ever had been in the past.  These sites replace travel brochures, and provide so much more information than is available in brochures.

Another brochure replacement is The Travel Channel which features among others Tony Bourdain and Samatha Brown. If you ever watch the Travel Channel you undoubtedly are acquainted with both. Included here are videos, travel guides, travel ideas, discussions and a listing of the shows that the Travel Channel features. Their Budget Travel section includes such ideas as:
• Britain on a Budget
• Budget Airlines
• Budget Hawaii
• Car-Less Adventures
• Cities Less Traveled
• Couchsurfing
• Dollar-Friendly Destinations
• Fly Business Class for Less
• Mardi Gras: Budget New Orleans
• Money-Saving Travel Tips
• One Tank Wonders
• Pod Hotels
• River Cruises
