Senior Travel: Mexico, Central America and Bus Tours

May 26th, 2010 | By | Category: Senior Travel

Seniors, here you may explore the world with Traveler’s Digest. Just click on the map to begin your adventure. For an example, I chose MEXICO. A nice map of Mexico comes up with all the major cities frequented by tourists. I chose Isla Mujeres as I have been there with a student group. Now you may access additional information such as Travel Guides – Search for Hotels – Hostels – Hotels – Vacation Rentals – Search for Airfare – Airlines – Search for Car Rentals – Car Rentals – Scuba Diving – Search Within Travelers Digest – Request More Information. Each city is fully explored by Traveler’s Digest, well documented and well done.

On this same site there is a Central America Travel Directory in the upper left hand corner with countries listed. Going back to the main Uniform Resource Locator (URL) above, check out a few places that you would like to visit one day. Take good notes and maybe even consider bookmarking a few for later reference.  As always, Bon Voyage!

I had an elderly aunt (99 when she died) who to loved to take travel tours by bus all over the country. She even took a bus trip to Alaska. She loved the comfort, the comaraderie and the security of knowing she was in good hands. This bus site can provide lots of helpful information for seniors who like Aunt Velma, enjoy traveling by bus. 1000 Tips 4 Trips has a section called Bus Travel Tips. Under the Miscellaneous Tips for Travel by Bus is listed…”I have always found it beneficial to befriend the bus drivers. While you’re not supposed to talk to them when they are operating the coach, take a moment to chat with them before departure or during brief stops. That way, if unexpected layovers occur, or if there is any confusion, you will find it easier to get their help or, at the very least, get information from them.” I could not agree more.

The bus driver is a key to any successful bus tour trip. Treat the bus driver nicely and maybe even take up a collection for a tip at the end of the tour for him/her. Here is a nice long list of bus tours and charters. There is a good choice of types of tours on this site with additional information for seniors traveling by bus.  jeb
