Senior Travel in France and Europe

Apr 9th, 2010 | By James E Becker | Category: Senior Travel

I often show my bias for France as I have been there over thirty times, so please bear with me as I share another super site to aid seniors in planning a trip to ‘la belle et douce France.’ Information France has tons of helpful sites for you to consider if you would like to travel to France. Accommodations, attractions, wine, history, regions, restaurants, visitor information and more. Photos and specific information on each site is provided. This source comes from the UK. They have links to nearly 5,000 tourist offices in France giving you access to the latest information on your destination, so Bon Voyage!

EuroVacations invites senior to plan and book everything needed for a european vacation. Here you can create your own custom vacation itinerary. They are not new to the scene and have over 28 years of European travel experience. Destination guides can help with planning details. I have selected a few sites for you to check out; it is fun just to read and learn more about each destination:
• England & Ireland Travel Guide
• London, England Travel Guide
• France Travel Guide
• Provence, France Travel Guide
• Paris, France Travel Guide
• Florence, Italy Travel Guide
• Rome, Italy Travel Guide
• Venice, Italy Travel Guide
Visit Europe is a site you have to ‘play around with’ a bit to explore what you see in front of you. Do bring up the Practical Information in the center of the page under Plan Your Trip as here you may access all kinds of useful information on discovering Europe, planning your trip and traveler’s needs. It is a busy site but loaded with information that seniors can enjoy exploring.

Museums of Paris invites seniors to check out museums passes, museums and exhibitions. With the museum pass, there’s no admission charge, no waiting in line and no limit to the number of times you can visit more than 70 museums and monuments in Paris and in the Paris region. Information and reservations are available here. You will have free direct entry to the permanent collections.  Unlimited visits and unlimited validity, the pass may be used any time after purchase. The museum pass is accepted at The Louvre , the Arc de Triomphe and at many more of the cities outstanding museums.

Besides the Louvre, where I spent a year studying art and architecture, my next favorite in the Musée de Cluny, officially known as Musée National du Moyen Âge (National Museum of the Middle Ages). It is totally awesome and well worth a visit.

Paris Convention and Visitor’s Office has a nice site loaded with senior tourist information. A cultural agenda calendar lets you pick a day and then provides activities for that day. My own French website has lots of good information on Paris and the French language. You could easily spend hours here or on one of the homepage sites that has 14 different languages to choose from. Have some fun here as there are some super activities for each language.

At Franceguide.com, seniors can discover everything from gastronomy, to world-renowned museums in Paris and the French Riviera. Explore practical travel information; Franceguide is loaded with activities and visits. Do check out Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur, my favorite region in France. jeb
