MISSOURI HIGHLIGHTS

Missouri is called the “Show Me” state and so I invite seniors to check out the many highlights of the state and the many valid reasons for spending quality some time there. You will find it lots of fun and highly educational. Some call it “Mizzou” or “Missoura.”

Take a drive through the Ozark Mountains with great fishing lakes everywhere as well as memorable mountain scenery. Two major Missouri cities are at each end of the state with Kansas City on the west and St. Louis on the east end of Hwy 70. The state Capital is Jefferson City. Interstate highways 44 and 35 also criss-cross the state making travel easy and accessible.

Missouri is bordered by Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska. With a 2009 population of 5,987,580. Each portion of the state has a major tourist attraction. Just for starters visit the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, the zoos in both KC and St. Louis, the renown Nelson-Atkins Art museum in KC and Anheuser-Busch in St Louis. A Missouri vacation guide is home for recreating, camping, float trips, shopping, dining and more.

The official website of the state has travel coupons, trip ideas, a calendar of upcoming events and suggestions to make your trip complete. Things to Do portions the state into sections with major sites to visit. And many famous people are from the Show Me State. Do plan a visit to the Truman Library in Independence. Many years ago I got to meet Truman at his presidential library.

Missouri’s Major Attractions

Never at a lack for information, another online Missouri Tourism Guide is a worthwhile aid for senior visitors. Travel Missouri and check out the major attractions like the St. Louis Arch, the tallest monument built in the U.S. that is 630 feet tall. Check out the natural beauty of Missouri via the Ozark lakes or the sounds of Branson‘s country music. I’ve been to Nashville and saw The Grand Ole Opry. I discovered that Branson can match Nashville and has much more variety. I highly recommend a visit to Branson during their Christmas season.

When planning your Missouri vacation, MissouriBeautiful is your one stop source of information. Throughout the state of Missouri you will be impressed with the variety of opportunities to see and experience different types of attractions. The entire state is loaded with streams, rivers and lakes. Do come and see why they call it the “Show Me” state. jeb
