Holiday Travel Planning Sites

It has been said that…”Every now and then a blind pig finds an acorn.” That’s me. I stumbled upon a neat website but don’t ask me how I found it. It just “appeared.” Serendipity again. Found out that Serendipity is the word has been voted as one of the ten English words that were hardest to translate. It is simply a propensity for making fortunate discoveries while looking for something unrelated.

Anyway… World Reviewer is a treasure and provides many helpful travel links for all ages. They feature the latest holiday ideas, the best the world has to offer, travel experiences recommended by their experts, latest experiences and selected categories–all-in-one travel planning on one website . Here you may choose a holiday idea, a location, and a theme all in one. The folks who produced the site have traveled to the far corners of the globe, from Afghanistan to Argentina, from Tahiti to Baku. They believe the experience of finding ideas and planning your holiday online should be fun, which is why they are using the latest technology – thousands of stunning flickr images, the latest google mapping, videos imported from YouTube and Geobeats, and fun tools like a weather map, or their “experience of the day.”

World Reviewer is all about finding inspiration for your next holiday.  To help you plan your next holiday, and to help you get to your destination, they’ve made a comprehensive list of all the best travel companies and specialists too. From trekking in the Himalaya to a cooking course in Tuscany, from whale watching in the Azores to ballooning in Namibia, World Reviewer is creating the best range of experiential travel on the web.

With more detailed descriptions of the press trip coming this week, they wanted to post some scenes from their five days on the Dominican Republic’s Northern Coast. Occupying nearly two-thirds of the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean, the Dominican is best known for its beautiful beaches, tasty rum and quality cigars. I liked the part about the quality cigars. On the beach in the Dominican (Punta Cana) my son-in-law advised me to…”ask what the cigar tastes like” and they will give one free.  It worked.  I usually bought one or two after a taste sampling. My son and son-in-law each bought a new Rolex watch for $75. Two weeks later one of the second hands fell off and the other just stop running. So be it for on the beach purchases.

The Best Christmas Markets are said to be in Germany and Austria. They list Christmas Markets and Christmas holidays all over the world. They checked out 78 Christmas Markets in the world. How about spending Christmas in Salzburg?  This site features a Romantic Christmas in Salzburg With “Silent Night – Holy Night” Chapel and Winter Wonderland Horse-drawn Sleigh Ride between December 22 – 27, 2010.

I leave you with another “find” on train travel from tavelguru.tv. This one is a video called Provence by Rail. Traveling by train offers many advantages over flying; not least because the journey actually feels like part of the vacation. Provence is a region immortalized in countless films and books, conjuring up images of sleepy villages, boules, rustic cuisine and robust wines, plus it’s one of my most favorite places in the world. Great video. Here are the latest other videos and offers including Maui, Verona, Malta and Santa Lucia. What a find! jeb
