I just knew it!  Sooner or later I would find a site called simply TRIP.  At Trip seniors can find Cheap Airfare, Hotel Deals, Cruises, Car Rentals & Vacation Packages and check multiple sites like Orbitz, Kayak, Cheap Air, Hotwire, Travelocity, TripAdvisor, etc. to find the best deal for your next trip.  One of those one stop sites.  The site has France Hotels (3,947), Italy Hotels (4,631), Germany Hotels (2,277), and Spain Hotels (2,084) plus 39 other countries and that’s a bunch.

IPL2 is a site with many links for seniors on their Travel Guide (ipl2 is the result of a merger of the Internet Public Library (IPL) and the Librarians’ Internet Index (LII)).  I even found a handicapped travel club here.   Their links are loaded with helpful URLsAnother nice site for handicapped travelers is Accessible.  It has information for those with special needs, disability magazines, and access guides for cities, resorts and attractions. If you know of anyone who might benefit and enjoy these sites, please forward this information to them.  I thank you, or they say in French “merci beaucoup.”

Travel Medical Insurance reimburses seniors for emergency medical expenses incurred when traveling or living in a foreign country.  Compare the different plans available via the matrix and use the links at the bottom to check prices.

Are you a single parent?  If so, here is a site dedicated to single travelers.   It is called Single Parent Travel Single Parent Travel was born out of a need by Brenda Elwell in 1983.  As a single mom with a love for travel and two rambunctious children (at the time), Brenda decided to share her knowledge of traveling as a single parent with children with the world.  Today, Single Parent Travel is a multi-faceted organization. First and foremost, they are a resource for advice and opinion. On their site, seniors can find:

  • Travel Tips
  • Parenting Tips
  • An Informative Blog
  • Our Monthly Newsletter
  • Our Single Parent Trips

Here is another fun site for seniors to “leaf through.”  It is called Travel With a Challenge. It features a complete library of richly-illustrated feature articles presented in this magazine over the past four years. This valuable resource is arranged in three ways: by topic, by country and by travel theme pages. If they have it, you’ll find it!  You may search by Topic, By Country, By Travel Theme Pages, the South Pacific and a host of others.  Just try this one as it has so much to offer.

You’ve heard the horror stories. So-and-so in accounting took a safari vacation in Africa and came back with malaria. Your neighbor’s best friend had a heart attack climbing his first mountain. Your favorite hairdresser threw up for 10 days after coming back from a trek through the Amazon.   Stay Healthy on the Road Tips for an Illness-Free Vacation by Gretchen Kelly has many travel tips that all senior travelers will find useful.   jeb
