Online Travel Reviews for Seniors

Top Ten Reviews for online travel say “We do the research so you don’t have to.”  This site evaluates a variety of travel sites to provide valuable information for planning global travel.  You get to be your own travel agent. You can plan your trips or vacations and make reservations quickly with just a few mouse clicks.  Reservation options include flights, cruises, hotels and car rental. These sites allow you to pay and get your confirmation numbers online. Travel planning that once took hours in an agent’s office now takes only a few headache-free minutes.  And many of these online sites have special deals (discounted rates) only offered on the Internet.

These are some of the sites available today on the Internet…

Kayak.com
The all-time best site for finding the cheapest plane tickets in the U.S.

Priceline.com
The granddaddy discounter helps hotels, car-rental agencies, and airlines unload all sorts of inventory at well below published prices.

TripAdvisor.com
Harnessing the power of the masses, the user-hotel-review site TripAdvisor is the top way to hunt for hotels.

Hotwire  What you already know: Probably the second-best online gambling experience a travel nut could ever have (after Priceline), this site is still known primarily for its hotel deals, although no one should rent a car without checking Hotwire first.  What you might not know: “One upside of the downturn is that we have some of the most amazing travel bargains in years,” reads a statement on the home page of Hotwire offshoot

TravelTicker, a new site that, like Priceline, aims to help consumers sift through the avalanche of bargains that a depressed economy has wrought.

NEW: venere has hotels, apartments and B&B accommodations worldwide including 575,000 unbiased hotel reviews.  How many online reservations website reservations would say… “Pay when you stay. No advance payment required: book now, pay later at the hotel!”  That sure is a little different. venere spotlights independently owned properties overseas, many of which never show up on American travel sites. Any booking site can point you to large, widely known hotels. But you might prefer to stay in a charming inn or a small property on your next trip, especially if you’re traveling to Europe. Well, venere is the go-to source for this type of mom-and-pop lodging, which usually provides better value for the money than hotel chains.

Fact: United Airlines is making the most of the recent decline in market prices for jetliners by placing an order for $10 billion+ of Airbus and Boeing Co jetliners. United Airlines has placed an order for 25 of Boeing’s 787 Dreamliners and 25 A350 planes after six months of competitive bidding. The carrier has also paid for full purchase rights of 50 of each aircraft. Many can not wait to fly the new Boeing 787-3 Dreamliner that seats 330 passengers.  For inside information on this remarkable new aircraft see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_787.
