Statistics suggest that the rate of suicide among Boomers is on the rise. Reasons: lack of success, inability to emulate their parent’s style of living, a discouraging decline in economic promise, more indicators that the future looks bleak and so on.

With that discovery, some Boomers are turning to the frighteningly hopeless tactic of committing suicide. What a sad commentary on our times and the world we occupy. To be sure, aging has its downsides. No question that, with age, comes some difficult and disconcerting dynamics. Perhaps, having had it too easy has produced unrealistic expectations and shattered dreams.

Aging has a way of introducing both expectations and disappointments. Expectations come when some plan is suggested for some future activity. Disappointments follow when the expectation is not or cannot be acted upon.

Often, these disappointments come when a conflicting appointment interferes. There are all kind of expectations which meet the barricade of disappointment.

Medical appointments are often cause for expectation or disappointment. When an appointment is set, the expectation is that that is inviolate. If it is cancelled, that often means a worrisome delay. Or, it may mean setting the appointment at a time that interferes with another appointment, one which you

Aging brings with it realization. Realization is an awakening. An awakening helps us to sort out just who we are as we count down the years. Defining who we are means that we can look at ourselves, inwardly and outwardly, to determine if we draw satisfaction with that person we call I or me.

Among the important issues that bear scrutiny are these few. Numerous others obviously emerge and tempt our recognition. A lot of them certainly are worthy of more than a scant evaluation. .

Choosing to allow integrity to have more sway in my life than lack of it.
