Lies and Distortions Are Not Going Away
Adolf Hitler’s Minister of Propaganda, Joseph Goebbels, once wrote, “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.” (Wikiquote) He was the manager of some of the most horrific lies ever created in the history of mankind, so he should know what he’s talking about.
And it appears to be working so far as the lies and distortions being spread about Social Security are concerned. They are big enough and they are repeated over and over and over and over… Some people have come to believe them.
The Truth About Social Security
So we’re here, once again, to tell the truth about Social Security.
- Social Security has not contributed a dime to our national deficit/debt. In fact, Social Security has been a lending agency for congressmen and women. They have passed legislation that borrows from the Social Security Trust Fund when they needed money for other programs. Social Security pays for itself.
- More than 55 million seniors and disabled receive Social Security benefits. Simple truth.
- In 1935, when Social Security was enacted, half of all senior citizens in the country lived in poverty. Today less than 10 percent of seniors are below the poverty line. Social Security works, and we seniors need it for our survival.
- Social Security has a $2.7 TRILLION surplus. That surplus will go a long way toward meeting the burgeoning Baby Boomer population now retiring.
And SeniorCitizenJournal.com states once again, the entire Social Security discussion will go away if Congress will simply require wealthy Americans to pay their fair share of payroll taxes, rather than being given tax ‘relief’ that they do not need.
Spread the word. Spread the truth.
