Seniors: It Depends on Your Attitude
Nov 2nd, 2010 | By Dr Jerry D Elrod | Category: Senior Moments BlogHow difficult is it to live as a Senior? How practical is it to discover a day to day formula that allows for an overall healthy frame of mind, spirit and body?
It depends on your attitude.
Here are the components that make up attitude:
- A strong sense of humor. Laugh. Laugh often. Laugh a lot.
- An ability to smile. Allow your face to demonstrate that you are a happy person.
- An ability to listen. When someone wants to engage you, give them a chance. Don’t cut them off. But don’t allow them to dominate to the point of boredom.
- Approach persons positively. Let them know you enjoy their presence.
- Stay focused on the person you are with. Don’t allow yourself to be distracted.
- Shift topics, so that the two of you discover a variety of subjects you can enjoy.
- Point out the strong points of other people. They will feel better about themselves, and you will be the reason.
- Keep your posture, your body language such that it communicates strength, pleasantness, and a good attitude.
- Don’t go negative about health, weather, state of affairs, etc. Doing so will ruin the goal of the day: Keep a good attitude.
There you are. Remember living happily as a senior depends on your attitude.
